Mr.X is perversely grumpy and so displays the behaviour of type A personality like anxiety and anger over insignificant things.

Are there any better words than like?

  • Since those are just two aspects of Type A, I'd suggest either "such as" or "including" but I would precede it with a comma:

... Type A personality, including anxiety and anger ...

... Type A personality, such as anxiety and anger ...

That said, I'd reword it to say "behavioral aspects of a Type A personality, including anxiety and anger ..."

or "behavioral aspects of a Type A personality, such as anxiety and anger ..."

You could use "such as". Frankly, though, I think you're mixing apples and oranges.:) Being perversely grumpy doesn't mean that you have a "Type A" personality. I would also delete the word "so" and pluralize "behaviours". I'm also not sure that you need "over insignificant things". "Type A" personalities are not the only ones who anger about small things. Wouldn't it be enough to end the sentence at "...anxiety and anger." (although these are not necessarily "Type A" traits, either)?
