Log in/Sign in [AE/BE difference?]

Senior Member

I wonder, what is the difference between "log in" and "sign in"? Is either one more British or American than the other one?

Thank you!

On a website, they mean the same thing. I don't perceive one as being particularly more British or American than the other.

In a real-world situation, you can only "sign in," never "log in" (to a meeting, etc).

(This is my perspective on American English... let's see what the Brits say!)
