Thanks a lot, the problem is that it comes from a BBC article about a young Salvadorian whose parents leave him to follow their dreams! I tried the delivery idea, but came up blanks.

One of the students came up with 'forced to mature too quickly', but 'remesas' is used again in the text 'Carlos lidia día a día con la misma realidad: unos padres que viven en el extranjero, la soledad y una remesa quincenal'.

    Any help would be great.

    Are you struggling with remesa?

A remesa is money which is sent from workers abroad to their family back home. So in this context a remesa quincenal would be a fortnightly cheque from the States.
