I'm reading the English book, Stone the Crows: Oxford Dictionary of Modern Slang to add a bit of variety to my passive vocabulary! There is a phrase "make a balls of" meaning to muddle or do something badly that has already been used by S.Becket.
I've made a balls of the fly. (1958)
Interested to know whether the phrase is in current use in modern British English or not!

- Have you done the task you were supposed to do?
- Well, I think I've made a balls of it!
