make a commitment/pledge

    How would I say 'to make a commitment/pledge in spanish?

    "They make a pledge to eachother to remain pure."
    "Adquieren un compromiso con el un del otro de quedarse puros."

    I really don't think that's correct. Any ideas?

    "ambos se comprometieron a mantenerse puros"

    Make a pledge= comprometerse a ....

    tambien puede ser: ellos se prometieron mutuamente mantenerse puros

    im sorry the sentence have to be in present simple.
    ellos se comprometen mutuamente a mantenerse puros
    or ellos hacen la promesa- el juramento- de mantenerse puros
