If the meanings of make friends given by the dictionary don't suit you, you should provide the context in which you want to use make friends in order to suggest alternatives that may be relevant to that context.
I’m sorry but i mustn't have made myself very clear but what i meant was that of the different translations given for "make" make friends wasnt’t one of them.
Here is an exaple of the sentence:
I made friends with the other children on the beach.
Make friends has its own entry at the dictionary. Look at the link provided at the top of this thread (just above your first post). But I now see your point. There's no reference to make friends on the dictionary's entry for make. It would be indeed a good idea to include it.
