Make it through the night

Hello everybody again:
I would like to know the meaning of this idiom, since, according to some dictionaries, this sentence could be translated as "βγάζω τη νύχτα", which I find a little bit odd.

Context:
I didn't know how I'd make it through the night. Especially when you love someone and feel like their the only somebody that loves you, the real you and not that fake person you put on to go outside everyday.
(You were there, written by Rajah B. Smart)

All the best

Odd as it may seem, this is the phrase we use in Greek.
I didn't know how I'd make it through the night. = Δεν ήξερα πώς θα 'βγαζα τη νύχτα. (οr: Δεν ήξερα πώς να βγάλω τη νύχτα.)
