make the ball swell

I put a dented ping pong ball in the hot water, I want to make the ball go back to its original shape.

I want to make the ping pong ball expand. In this sentence, is there a similar or better word than "expand"? How about "I want to make the ball swell" or "I want to make the ball go bigger"?

Thanks.

I think I would say, "I put a dented ping pong ball in the hot water as I want to make the dent pop out."

    (1) I put a dented ping pong ball in the hot water, I want to make the ball go back to its original shape.

    (2) I want to make the ping pong ball expand. In this sentence, is there a similar or better word than "expand"? How about "I want to make the ball swell" or "I want to make the ball go bigger"?

    Thanks.
Sentence (1) is impeccable English. I don't think you need to find a better way to say it.

    (2) You don't want the ball to expand so much as the air inside it, so: "I put a dented ping pong ball into hot water, I wanted the increased air pressure to pop out the dent."
