man/ a man

I have got one more problem. Could we omit an article in this sentence?
An accountant is a man who is hired to explain you didn;t make the money you did.
X man= human being, so no article?

And in the book the article 'a' is used in this sentence, right? The article is necessary in this case.

An accountant is like any man except for the one defining characteristic mentioned (that of explaining that you didn't make the money etc.).
So he is a man with an unusual characteristic.
