Hello everybody,
From the NYT International Edition : Maverick Japanese photographer bound to ritual
Now he receives his largest exhibition in New York, though a different sort of institution : the Museum of Sex, better known for its anatomically explicit bouncy castle and Studio-54-manqué cocktail bar than its engagement with visual art.

Can you please explain the words in bold.
Thanks in advance.

The word manqué is similar to a “wannabe”. It refers to something (or, more usually, someone) that didn’t quite manage to do or be what it had hoped. So this cocktail bar was trying to be like the scandalous Studio 54, but didn’t quite cut it.
