manutenzione straordinaria

Buongiorno a tutti!
Quale è la corretta traduzione di manutenzione straordinaria come contrapposto alla manutenzione ordinaria generalmente tradotta semplicemente con "Maintenance"?
Special Maintenance?
Extraordinary maintenance?
Exceptional maintenance?
Maintenance out of the ordinary?
Extra-maintenance?

In un manuale tecnico ho tradotto cosí.

    Spero ti sia di aiuto.:)

    Buon 2009!!

I think "scheduled" and "unscheduled" maintenance may be the common terms.
I agree with you, but I have always translated it as "Non-routine Maintenance."

Definition (from a US commercial website)
Non-routine Maintenance is any maintenance that isn’t performed at pre-determined intervals. Sometimes Quality Control workers and Inspection Technicians will routinely inspect machinery in order to catch a problem before it becomes too troublesome (see Planned Maintenance). Non-routine Maintenance is the other side of this. Aside from Shutdown Maintenance, Non-routine is the worst kind of inspection and repair. Downtime can be costly and unpredictable.

Un'altra espressione e' quella di "corrective maintenance" , as contrasted to "preventive maintenance".

Another couple of contrasted concepts are "maintenance and repairs". Where 'maintenance' is considered scheduled, and 'repairs' is what you do when something breaks down or shows the first signs of malfunction, which I think pretty much covers 'manutenzione straordinaria'. This is used in your financials, on the cost side.

Or you could have 'routine maintenance' and 'major maintenance'. In my company I had a CnC machine. We had to periodically perform 'routine maintenance' (mainly cleaning and making sure that the lubricating system worked OK) and once in a while we had to take down the four-jaw chuck attached to the electrospindle in order to keep the wearing of the metal under control. That was for us 'manutenzione straordinaria', 'major preventive or corrective maintenance', if I had to talk about it.
