Marché éclaté

Hello,
I would like to translate the expression "marché éclaté" into english. I'm trying to explain that there are a lot of competitors in the market I discribe (more than in other countries). I'm not sure at all that "fragmented market" would fit.
Please can you help.
Regards

Fragmented is a very usual word to describe a market. It is the opposite of highly concentrated and is an important feature in describing any market.

In my understanding a fragmented market means just that. There are a lot of companies competing for existing demand. As a market concentrates (ie becomes less fragmented) the number of companies declines due to attrition, mergers, takeovers, etc.
    Cheers
