marmolina (piedra)

I just ran into this word. The artisan who wrote the Spanish text I am translating says it is synoymous with "soapstone". Just FYI, in case anyone out there encounters this term :)

    What about "marmolina" that is used as a finish in pools? It is similar to stucco in appearance.

    Did anyone ever come up with a proper translation for "marmolina"?

    I'm translating a text about an artist that makes sculptures out of this material, but @cabazorro said, I believe soapstone is something else... ??

    La marmolina es polvo de mármol mezclado con distintos tipos de ligantes, con lo que se obtienen distintas propiedades. Puede obtenerse un bloque similar al mármol natural o mezclado con ciertas resinas puede verterse en moldes donde se endurecerá y adquirirá aspecto de mármol.
    También se le dice marmolina a productos hechos con polvos de granito, cuarzo, etc.
    Yo lo traduciría como "Synthetic marble" o "powdered marble".
