Hello! In a interview I heard the interviewer asking to her interviewee if 'ele (o seu marido - com 50 anos de casado) é muito maroto'. She replied 'Ele sempre fui como amigo, nunca me tratou mal'. What does 'maroto' mean in this case? thanks!

Maroto for Brazilians - although rarely used nowadays - is someone who is naughty, normally like a naughty child. This is the sense that prevailed for us, although as I said, we rarely use that nowadays.

Neste contexto, concordo. No entanto, talvez seja bom precisar que 'maroto', neste sentido de lascivo ou libidinoso, não tem implícita uma carga moral negativa substancial. O 'maroto' é o sujeito que, quando conversa faz constantemente insinuações ou alusões de natureza sexual, ou o atrevido que não recua perante uma carícia ou um apalpão indesejado, mas que, evidentemente, só vai mais além se o deixarem. Frequentemente é visto como um tipo simpático, divertido. É comum o tom de condescendência quando se qualifica alguém de 'maroto', embora a receptividade que obtém depende muito de o interlocutor ou a vítima serem muito ou pouco moralistas ou púdicos.

But, with reference to my post #1, is she referring to a misbehaved person or sb that is sexually provocative? It seems to me it wants to know if he was a careful husband, loyal to her wife, .. I don't know, doesn't it denote lack of respect for the elderly woman?
