    If you are talking about something you must do, "It is hard for me..."
    If you are taking about the price of a thing: "It costs..."

    It was in my grammer book in a lesson I have not learned but should know for the exam. Your explanations make sense.

    The examples were: Me cuesta hacer ejercisios...pronunciar la erre...leer in español...etc.
