All the quotes presented in the chapter 4 are from the women in my research. I chose the quotes because they were typical or illustrative concerning the themes of interest developed for the women during the group discussion and the individual interviews. The major themes identified (from the focus group and interviews/ that?) were those related to lymphedema, hair loss, the role of neighbours as a support group within the village, encountering medicine, and how village life enables women’s agency to resist popular and medical pressure to look feminine.
