Mi vorrei trasformare

Hello! I am new to this forum and am excited to have found it. As a choir teacher, I deal with numerous languages. Although there are many good resources for translations, sometimes I just cannot find a translation anywhere for a certain piece. I hope you can help me with this one. It is text used by Orazio Vecchi in a canzonetta entitled "Mi vorrei trasformare." I could not find the author of the text. I understand the general meaning of what is intended, but could someone give me a meaningful translation?

Mi vorrei trasformare,
Grillo sol per cantare;
E farmi ben sentire
La notte, quando tu stai a dormire.

Thanks!
