House Frey might have abandoned the King in the North, but the Lord of the Crossing remained the most powerful of Riverrun’s bannermen, and Lothar was here in his stead. (Game of Thrones)

Hi. Does the bold part mean House Frey did actually abandon the King in the North?
Thank you.

    HI.
The context is: The King in the North disgraces House Frey by failing to marry one of Lord Frey's daughters the king has once promised to marry. Lord Frey sees this act betrayal. And the King in the North and the Lord of the Crossing (=Lord Frey) are not the same person.

I see, thanks. My understanding remains the same - that House Frey did abandon the King in the North.
