"Might have known you lot would be behind that somehow"

Hello everybody,
It really doesn't make sense to me. It looks like "you should know how much is involved in this" but I'm not sure at all. The context is not easy to explain, it's about some people talking about a fraud when someone else runs into the conversation.... can you help me?

    Expanding a little on my post above, the expression carries with it other subtleties, like: 'In retrospect it's obvious that it was you . . . '. Hope that helps.
