Which is correct?
I think "most of the bread"="most bread," so I would use "looks" here.

    True. I am just on the way to my local baker who sells several different breads (i.e. different types of bread - white, brown, wholemeal, rye...). But that is far less common and more specific than the usual construction: "Most of the bread looks fresh and delicious".
