Mr./Ms.+ whole name

Senior Member

Is it okay to call a person by Mr./Ms.+ whole name? For example, if John Jones is my important client, when I call to his company, given there might be other people in that company with the same last name, so I want to make it clear to his coworker who is answering my call that I want to talk to Jone Jones, and I want to make it polite, so I say, "May I talk to Mr. Jonh Jones." Is it okay?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, although it's pretty formal to say it that way. And if it's a formal situation then you should probably say, "May I please speak with Mr. John Jones"
