Hello,
please, what exactly does the compound pink-and-white stand for?
Does it refer to Ms. P's complexion?
Many thanks.

G.M.Malliet: Wicked autumn
"Ms. Pitchford was a pink-and-white, elderly lady of deceptively fluffy aspect and all-seeing china blue eyes, her cheeks as soft and unwrinkled as a child's."

White people aren't really all white ... some parts are pink (there's red blood inside white people). So it's just a description of her color.
