My favorite song by [someone] is (…)

Hi,

I started learning Romanian some months ago and the fact that I don’t know how to properly translate this sentence into Romanian is been torturing me. XD

• My favorite song by Maria Codreanu is Căderea frunzelor.

• My favorite song by the group Genius is Școala.

• This is my favorite song by them/him/her

I don’t know how to translate the preposition “by” here.

Cântecul meu preferat al trupei/de la/trupei Genius este Școala?

But if I replace Genius with another pronoun, for instance, “them”, it would look like this:

Cântecul meu preferat al ei este (…).

It sounds weird, and I’ve stressing over this matter 😂 as I post Romanian songs on youtube and I don’t know how to say it.

2/ (fem.) Cântecul meu preferat al Mariei Tănase este (...)
3/ (masc.) Cântecul meu preferat al lui Zavaidoc este (...)

Edit: You could also use Cântecul meu preferat de Maria Tănase este (...) however, given the context I'd go with the forms in 1-3 above.

Other options, depending on the context:

This is my favorite song by them/him/her -> Acesta este cântecul lor/lui/ei pe care îl prefer

Cântecul meu favorit din repertoriul lor/lui/ei -> My favourite song from their repertoire
