Hi Everyone,

My (otherwise intelligent) friend believes that the only cause of obese people's obesity is laziness, she completely refuses to consider other possible factors such as hormonal disorders, psychological problems. Is she narrow-minded or small-minded in this question? Actually, can I use either of these terms at all in an intelligent person's case or is it very degrading?

I agree that "ill-informed" may be appropriate here as well, but in general refusing to consider other factors makes you "narrow-minded." "Small-minded" to me suggests pettiness.

I was going to say that.

    Small minded = petty
Narrow minded = failing to see the big picture (failing to see things in the full context)

For me the word that works best to describe this behavior is "prejudice".
