Hello, I hope you'll understand what I want to say, but I have no idea if I can say it this way:

Where is Brian?
1/ He went over to the neighbour's.
2/ He is at the neigbour's

or is more common

1/ He went over next door.
2/ He is next door.

Which idiom is natural? Thank you.

  • Hello, I hope you'll understand what I want to say, but I have no idea if I can say it this way:

    Where is Brian?
1/ He went over to the neighbour's.:tick:
2/ He is at the neigbour's:tick:

    or is more common

1/ He went over next door. :cross:
2/ He is next door. :tick:

Note that the two sets of statements are not precisely the same. "Neighbors" includes everybody in the neighborhood and not just "next door."
