Hello, my friends,

I was wondering how to describe human beings' position in the history of Earth. Is idiomatic to say:

1. Human beings are the new generation of Earth.

2. Human beings are the new generation on Earth.

Thoughts: It is a known to all that human beings are the new living beings on earth, compared with the dinosaurs.

Hi, Sun. I sure don't understand "the new generation of/on Earth" in this context. I'd probably use "the dominant species" if I wanted to express this idea: Human beings are now the dominant species on Earth.*

*Many people like to believe this. I suspect that bacteria are really the most successful living beings in today's world.

I see. Thus it should be: Human beings are now the new dominant species on Earth. Am I right?
