Hello everyone

In:
"New marker isolation and genotyping has become routine in a wide range of taxa"

marker isolation = isolation of markers

Is wrong if I say markers isolation?
Always the first element has to be in singular?

Thanks in advance

An attributive noun (one noun acting as an adjective before another noun) is nearly always singular, but there are a few exceptions, such as women drivers or sports equipment.
