nomination de X à la direction de la trésorerie

Hi, I have a question about this sentence:

Nomination de Jane Doe à la direction de la trésorerie et financement du groupe

If I don't know the exact title of Jane Doe - does it obligatorily mean she is a Director? Or could she have another title as part of the top management of this department? If someone is appointed "à la direction," are they Directors?

If I translate this as: Jane Doe appointed as Director of the Department of Treasury
and Financing of the Group - could I be making a mistake?

Thanks.

I think it sounds ambiguous in French and it is possible (but unlikely!) that you would be making a mistake if you translate it as "Director".

Hmmm. Not very helpful answer... What does a native speaker think?

Thanks. I found more info for this person - actually they have been nominated as "Director." But you did confirm my doubt - it does not necessarily mean they always would be.
