In reading Eco's L'isola del giorno prima I came upon this sentence which I cannot decipher, please help:

"Vincenzo quando gli ha passato il ducato oltre che l'uccello non gli tirava neppure più il cervello, che poi non gli tirava neanche prima." (p. 29)

    Ciao!

When you say that "non ti tira l'uccello", you mean you can't get your :warn:dick up anymore. Here the author does a sort-of-transfer and says Vincenzo's brain was no longer functioning either (...it's well-known that men have two brains, isn't it? lol)... actually "non gli tirava neanche prima", it didn't even work before.

    Hope this clarifies ;)
