The sacred king in ancient times became the primary expression for many peoples of the life-force, the libido, of the cosmos.
(King, Warrior, Magician, Lover; R. Moore, D. Gillette)

Would you be so kind as to tell me whether the second 'of' suggests that there are only two items, namely the life-force (the libido) and the cosmos?

There are grammatically two items: the life-force of the cosmos and the libido of the cosmos. However, the author is giving libido as an alternative phrasing for life-force, meaning that they're in reality the same thing.

I think in fact that you and I are coming to the same conclusion.
