I need someone's help please. How do you translate the phrase:

"off and on"

e.g. I'm having a problem with my telephone line. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's off and on."

The word 'intermitente' doesn't seem to capture the sense, as it could mean something is designed to work in that way and therefore it's not a problem.

Muchos Gracias.

I agree with Yayu. Also "viene y se va". And you can use it for the telephone line, the electricity, the water supply, the Internet connection... surely there are more...
