Oh, these Denver doldrums!

Hi, in On the road I found the following expression:

"'I thought we were going to talk' [, said Carlo.]
'Yes, yes, after' [, said Dean.]
'Oh, these Denver doldrums!' yelled Carlo to the sky."

What does the character mean with "Denver doldrums"?

Thank you

This is just my gut feeling, but it seem like he's saying how depressing life is in Denver.

Doldrums: "a dull, listless, depressed mood; low spirits." Kind of a fancy word; probably used due its alliterative nature with Denver.
