On a basic level/ on a deeper level

    Oh sorry! I'm all over the place tonight. I'm talking about the interpretation of something that happens in a text - 'at a basic level this might be used as symbolic of...., but at a deeper level we can see it as....'. Hope that makes sense :)

    Maybe you could say:

    "Em termos gerais" for at a basic level (maybe), and "procedendo a uma análise mais profunda" for deeper level.

    Maybe there's a better way to translate "at a basic level" into Portuguese, but I cannot think of a better way to put it for now.
