On one weekend, my two sisters .. ['on' necessary?]

Hello to everybody,
Have I to use the preposition "on" in this context?: " On one weekend, my two sisters joined me in Switzerland".
Is "on" necessary, uncessary or can I simply omit it?.

"On a weekend while I was in Switzerland, my sisters joined me." is another way of saying this. Simply omitting one, as Miranda suggested, is probably best.

I agree that generally we would omit the 'on'. However in certain contexts it could be correct, as in:
"Last year I spent most weekends in various foreign countries, and not always alone. For instance, on one weekend my two sisters joined me in Switzerland".

Could a solution be: " On the first weekend of the month, my two sisters Nicole and Fiore joined me."?
