I'm trying to write an essay on Pepi, luci, bom y otras chicas de monton and a crucial quote is
"You'll have every feminist in the country on your back"
He's on the phone in the film, and I can't hear what the Spanish is for it, and can't find it anywhere.
Can anyone tell me what it is in Spanish?!

    I'd translate it as '¡Vas a tener a todas las feministas del país detrás tuyo/ detrás de ti!'. I suppose it'll be understood correctly thanks to the context but there's a possibility of this being mistaken for 'You'll have every feminist in the country wanting to be with you' in a romantic way. If you want to avoid this, you could always say ''¡Vas a tener a todas las feministas del país persiguiéndote!'

    I notice that Areella and Lurrezko both used the feminine article for feminista, and I wonder why. The noun can take either gender, but the word feminists in the original includes men as well as women. Is there a reason you chose the feminine article?

    Buena pregunta, gengo. Porque hay más mujeres feministas que hombres feministas, supongo. En España suele presuponer que se habla de mujeres, diría yo. A ver qué dice Areella.

    What I'd say: Vas a tener a todas las feministas del país encima (de ti) / Vas a tener a todas las feministas del país detrás de tu espalda.

    Or rudely: Vas a tener a todas las feministas del país tras tu culo.

    Hola, Arrella. "detrás tuyo" es incorrecto y muy típico de la zona norte de España (por aquí en Sevilla dicen "detrás tuya", igualmente incorrecto). El motivo no es otro que "detrás" es un adverbio y como tal no tiene género (sólo los sustantivos tienen género), por ello, no se puede emplear un adjetivo. Una prueba para saber siempre si este tipo de estructura está bien empleada es precisamente invertir el orden. ¿Puede decirse "tu detrás" o "mi detrás"? Pues, si no es así, tampoco pueden colocarse posesivos.

    Nice find! How did you search for that? (I'm assuming you found this as the original Spanish line, and didn't just translate it.)

    Sin duda una buena pregunta que nunca me había planteado. Me supongo que la razón de esto es la que Lurrezko ha dado, por norma general siempre hay más mujeres que hombres feministas. Digamos que es la costumbre :p.

    ¡No tenía ni idea de que fuera incorrecto! Llevo toda la vida diciendo 'detrás tuyo', qué cosas.

    Men can be feminists too, of course, but "las" seems appropriate to me.
    They say "detrás tuyo" here too, "incorrecto" or not.
