Hello, can you help to translate this sentence?
It's a song of Paul McCartney :'' Once upon along ago''.
Actually is just the title of the song. I hope it's enough! Thanks to anyone.

Sebbene il titolo si veda scritto spesso cosi' ("Once upon along ago''), si intenderebbe meglio il significato se fosse scritto "Once upon a long ago'', che rende piu' chiaro il fatto che fosse basato sulla frase fatta "Once upon a time" (usata per incomminciare le favole = "C'era una volta").

Si tratta di un piccolo trucco grammaticale e 'creativo', perche' nella parlata quotidiana "long ago" e' avverbio (=molto tempo fa / da tempo / ...), o al massimo aggettivo (=remoto, parlando del tempo), mentre la frase "Once upon a ...." richiede un sostantivo.

Io l' interpretterei per voler dire "Once upon a long-ago [time]", in cui "long-ago" e' aggettivo il sostantivo "time" e' sottinteso.

Ma come tradurlo, non lo so (tranne che si deve in qualche modo mantenere il tono favolistico di "C'era una volta").

C'era da tempo una volta ?

Hi all.
HERE are the full set of lyrics to "Once upon a long ago".
To me it seems to be a mix of "once upon a time" and "a long time ago",
but because of the rhythm and rhyme, he had to change it.
It still sounds very nice - smooth, almost natural - to these ancient ears who grew up on McCartney.
So I'm with Miri 110% because the two Italian phrases are common and used in nursery rhyme.

and you can hear how he stretches out the line to make it sound and fit perfectly with the rest.
