One's mind, once stretched by a new idea...

Hi again,

I'm curious how this could be translated into Arabic:

"One's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions."

Is it even possible to say يتمد من for "to be stretched by?" Somehow I doubt it. Or would I have to use من قبل or some other passive structure? That is, assuming I wanted to create a passive structure to mimic the English original.

But since Arabic generally does not make use of passive structures (where they can be avoided) I have translated the sentence with an active structure:

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Arabic (Egypt).
I like Haroon's second suggestion better: shorter, no جملة اعتراضية , and quite direct.

And Josh, your first sentence is also correct. The only mistake is in the missing daal يتمدَّد and the أبدًا at the end.
