Opposing opinion vs opposite opinion

Hello dear forum members,

If I want to describe someone's opinion which totally differs from mine, is this the opposite opinion or the opposing opinion? If, for example, I think that broccoli is delicious and my friend believes it's excruciatingly disgusting, does my friend hold the opposing opinion or the opposite opinion?



I appreciate any help.

You could say that your friend's opinion is "diametrically opposed" to yours. But I don't see anything wrong with either of your options.
