"B’s claim that two types of skepticism coexist in AD would require one to accept that in the same work S. used, without any caveat, the key notion of epochê in two incompatible senses. To avoid ascribing such a serious oversight to S., one could suppose that..."

Is it correctly used?

    Thanks for your answers, people.

I think suppose is ok. The complete sentence is:

"To avoid ascribing such a serious oversight to Sextus, one could suppose that in the lost part of AD he cautioned the reader that he would use that notion in two different senses. "
