Parler vs. Dire

What is the difference between to speak and to say? For example, would I say,

"Nous parlons français un peu, oui, et quelquefois, nous parlons même des choses intéressantes et intelligentes!" or

"Nous parlons français un peu, oui, et quelquefois, nous disons même des choses intéressantes et intelligentes!"

    The second sentence is correct.
    Parler means to speak, which refers to general speaking.
    Dire means to say, which refers to a precise sentence, for example, or in a dialogue.

    Ils parlèrent pendant des heures, se disant tous leurs secrets.
