People choose differently to exchange their best wishes

Hi,

Some people often go online and send emails or electronic cards to their friends, relatives and teachers while others prefer to make phone calls or send short messages by mobile phone. In a word, people choose differently to exchange their best wishes during their holidays.
(Quoted from an online article)

Does “choose differently to exchange their best wishes” make sense?

Many thanks!

 I agree — but in that case you would probably say “of exchanging” (assuming the messages are going both ways?) rather than using the infinitive.
