Hi,

I found this example of perfect infinitive use:
  • Before I turn 40, I want to have written a book.
How is it different from a simple infinitive:
  • Before I turn 40, I want to write a book.
Thanks!

The first option gives the impression that the book will have been completed, and possibly published and in the shops by the time she is 40, which the latter does not.
