    I'm not sure what you're asking for. "to get A's" is already quite idiomatic, I'd have thought, and there is not really any idiomatic way to say "annual performance appraisals". I can't really think of another way to say that, idiomatic or otherwise!

    An alternative to "gets A's" might be "gets top marks".

    Mr. Smith always gets A’s in annual performance appraisals.

    I suppose if, for some reason, you wanted to paraphrase this, you might say, "Mr. Smith's work (performance) is highly praised every year."
