    Hi, Everyone,

For the following sentence, I will choose "lessoned" to be the answer for the blank,
but "reduced" or even "marred" seems correct, too.

The performance of Beethoven's fifth symphony was ...2/4........
      by a weak violin section.
      (1) harmed (2) lessoned (3) marred (4) reduced

    Which is correct one?

    Thank you in advance.

It should be 'lessened', not 'lessoned'. I would choose (3), 'marred' meaning spoiled or ruined.
