    Hello all,

I was wondering how to say in English petit-bassin et grand-bassin at the swimming pool.

The petit-bassin is the pool for children and the grand-bassin normally for adults.

I was thinking about Children's pool and large pool.

    What do you think?

    Thanks.

The possibilities in English are as wide as I imagine they are in French.

My suggestions are "splash pool" and "main pool", but there is nothing wrong with your own suggestions.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.
Well, in French I do not see any other possibilities than those in my previous message...
    (petit bassin and grand bassin).

... ou petit bain et grand bain, qui sont aussi souvent employés

Mon dictionnaire donne aussi "paddling pool" pour petit bassin (piscine pour les enfants en bas âge).

At the pool I go to, there's a Children's pool / Small pool and a Adult's pool / Main pool. There really are a lot of possiblities.
A paddling pool though is slightly different. It's a little foldable plastic pool that you put up in your own garden for your very little children.
