Hi

Does anyone knows what "petite friture" means as a fishing term.

Here's the sentence :

Is it just small fish??

Many thanks.

"small fry" is also used as a metaphor for anything unimportant - especially people eg "They weren't serious criminals, they were only small fry".

Just to add (several years later) that in a culinary context, Wildan1 is right with whitebait. (I appreciate that the context here was fishing, so small fry.)
