How do you say taking off one's scab from their bodies?

I took hint from "to pick one's nose" to say "pick off" since it's not tearing off one's body to hurt. It's more of removing what can be discarded (not appropriate though).

The prior thread does not use the preposition "off" but your "pick off a scab" is correct if you remove the scab completely The scratch hadn't healed completely when she picked the scab off, so it started to bleed.
