A friction clutch transmits torque from a rotary input member to a rotary output member "par pincement de la friction entre un plateau de pression et un volant moteur". I don't really know how to deal with "pincement" in this connection ("creating" or "producing" don't sound very close to the French to me), and would appreciate any suggestions.
