pitch in

Senior Member

I'm trying to make a sentence using the phrasal verb "pitch in".

Could someone take a look at it and check if it sounds natural or not?

Here is the context:

My sister and I are trying to buy a dog, but my mom is against the idea, mainly because she doesn't believe that we'll take care of it. In fact, she was always the one to clean up the mess when we had a dog before.

We kept asking her to let us buy a dog and she finally agrees and says the following:

You have to promise to pitch in to clean up the mess. Otherwise, You can't bring a dog here.

How does the sentence sound?

I'd appreciate it if you could help me.
