are the expressions pockmarked and pitted with acne scars interchangeable? Which one is more colloquial? the latter?

    Not quite; the latter is more accurate, if that is what the marks actually are. I don't recall having seen "pockmarked" used recently, not for a person's skin at any rate. I wonder if it is now thought to be derogatory.

    For me they are the same, and one is not more colloquial than the other. They both mean "bad skin".
